The PM’s visit will take place at a time when Viet Nam-US trade relations can only be described as thriving.
The two sides have exchanged many high-ranking delegations since they established diplomatic relations in 1995.
Viet Nam and the US issued two joint declarations talking up multi-faceted co-operation in 2005 and 2006. This is expected to unfold new opportunities between the two countries in many fields.
Trade turnover between the two sides increased to US$12 billion last year from $9.7 billion in 2006 and $7.8 billion in 2005.
And the US market has become Viet Nam’s biggest export market. The US has invested $5.5 billion in Viet Nam, ranking fifth among countries and territories with investment capital in the country.
More than 1000 US businesses are operating in Viet Nam.
