Vietnam will host the 36th International Pepper Conference and The Vietnam International Pepper and Spices Exhibition- VNPS EXPO 2008 from Nov.25-28, 2008 in Hochiminh City, an ideal meeting place for all suppliers, exporters and importers from all over the world.

Potential of Vietnam’s Pepper
Vietnam currently has a half of the global pepper market-share, and is the largest pepper exporting country in the world. Vietnam’s Pepper has spread across 73 countries, primarily in the USA, EU nations and the Middle East. Pepper covers an area of approximately 50,000 hectare in 28 provinces all over the country. The main areas of pepper cultivation include Binh Phuoc, Dac Lak, Dac Nong, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Gia Lai, Quang Tri, Binh Thuan with productivity of more than 2.3 ton per hectare. This should be the strengths of manufacturing and exporting of Vietnamese pepper.
In 2006, the pepper industry made record with an exporting amount of 120,000 tons (190 million USD) in comparison to 102,000 tons (120 million USD) in 2005. In 2007, Vietnam exported 92,000 tons with the turnover reaching 300 million USD. This reward of the pepper industry after Vietnam’s accession into the WTO has indicated the favourable position and strengths of this special product in the market.
